genetic testing

those that did genetic testing. did it come back as a surprise, meaning that no one else in your family had the congetital disease or was it not a surprise b/c you knew it was in the family.

I came up positive for 3 of the tests. I was totally shocked. But, DH was tested and he was negative. I did go back to my parents and told them that one or both of them has this running in their DNA (meaning that all 3 may not have come from the same parent). It was kind of odd though b/c I am Jewish and 2 of the test were from that panel. And only Ashkenazi (can't spell?) sect from Eastern Europe has this. So, I felt some connection to my ancestors that I never had before. Though wish it was through some other means, but its there all the same.
