Genetic testing?
I had my ultrascreen yesterday and they pricked my finger for the 5 drops of blood
I have to go back next week for genetic testing. I am guessing they draw blood and go over my background? Dh just found out he has a mandatory class he has to take for work, so he cannot go with me. Does he need to go to? I was going to call and ask today but figured I would ask all you ladies first

Re: Genetic testing?
DH and I waived the appointment with the genetic counselor. My dr. said she was just sending me for the ultrascreen to be on the safe side and doubted I'd need the genetic counseling.
She went over the ultrascreen results with me herself. Which was perfect because everything came back as expected, normal.

Re: Genetic testing?
He will need to go if your results come back positive for certain carriers such as CF or RH-....if you are fine, then he doesn't have to go at all.

Re: Genetic testing?
He doesn't have to go with you. The bloodwork that I had done along with the finger prick has nothing to do with the father. Like Gertyrae said if you are a carrier for CF or RH negative then he will also have to get his bloodwork done...but that's something you would have done already. That was tested when I first found out I was pregnant in the first bloodwork done.

Re: Genetic testing?
They don't prick your finger again. They go through the famility tree and ask you questions about illnesses, etc. It's quite simple at this point.

Re: Genetic testing?
he does not need to go, but quiz him about his family history first. my dh did not go to the counseling with me and i felt like a dud because i did not know anything about the health of his aunts and uncles, how his grandfather died, etc.
