General question about IVF
In a nut shell how long is an IVF cycle? I think AF is coming and the next step is IVF, per my Dr. From the moment we begin until the actual transfer how long is the time period? I know it all depends on the woman/man but this is becoming a scary reality and I have tried looking online but there are so many conflicting that it is driving me nuts. Thanks ladies!

Re: General question about IVF
It all depends on what type of protocol you are on.... I was on the looooong Lupron protocol and I started on August 3rd and finished with all the meds yesterday, so it was 6 weeks for all the meds and then add another week on top of that for egg retrieval and embie transfer.

Re: General question about IVF
I would say that generally it could be anywhere from 4-8 weeks. Mine was a bit longer though. I was on BCP's for a while...I started the bcp's in the beginning of July and my ET was the end of August. But again my cycle was on the longer side.
Best of luck to you
Let me know if you want me to send you the link to my IVF diary....that might help you a little with the timeline

Thanks for your response. If you send the link that would be great. I may be jumping the gun, being that AF is due later next week, but I would like to do some research just in case. When will you know if the ET took? Hopefully it has

Re: General question about IVF
Here was how my cycle went:
6/23/09 Started BCP's (Day 3 of my cycle) 7/3/09 Started Lupron Shots 7/13/09 Started Gonal F, continued with small amt of Lupron 7/21/09 HCG Shot 7/23 Egg retrieval 7/28 5 day transfer of 2 embies (one AA and AB) - able to freeze 3 8/30 Bloodwork 8/3 Bloodwork & Started Estrace 2x/day
8/4 BFP via HPT (7dp5dt) 8/6 Beta Blood test
So, it was about 4 weeks for me until the retrieval (from 6/23-7/23) and the time really goes fast!
My IVF Diary
Good Luck!!

Re: General question about IVF
I loved reading everyone's journal. Is it wrong that I don't ask Dr. B for that kind of info? I just go along with what he tells me to do. I don't ask for numbers or results to blood tests. I take it all in what he tells me and ask what he is doing different this time around then last. Reading about everyone's success gets me very hopeful that it will happen to me soon.
