Gender reveal party question

Hi everyone,

I am going to a gender reveal party next weekend. I have never been to one before. Are u supposed to bring gifts? I would always bring something for the party (like a dessert) but did know if people bought baby gifts to these things. Figuring her shower will be within the next two months or so....

Thanks

Re: Gender reveal party question

I just went to one and brought a gender neutral outfit. I figure once everyone finds out they will mostly get blue or pink. You could also bring a little blanket or little rattle toy. I figured something small.

Re: Gender reveal party question

I've never attended one but DH & I did host one for us. We had around 25 people there. I did not expect anyone to bring presents at all...it was just meant as a special way for DH, me & our family/friends to find out the sex together.

I ended up getting gifts from my best girlfriends (gift card for a prenatal massage), one of DH's friends & his wife (a book, stuffed animal, & blanket), and my aunt (all baby essentials like spoons, first aid stuff, etc).

I don't think that a gift is necessary at all, but I think it would definitely be appreciated. I like the idea of a small gift card to Buy Buy Baby or perhaps a parenting book, picture frame, or a baby scrapbook/baby milestone book. Kohls usually has cute things and always has coupons!

Re: Gender reveal party question

When I went to my SIL gender reveal I brought a small token gift. Blue stretchy with dinosaurs on it (put in a blue bag) and pink booties (put in pink bag). When we found out it was a girl, I gave her the pink bag and just returned the boy gift.

You don't HAVE to give a gift. But I think a small boy or girl token gift is cute.

While I don't think a gift is necessarily warranted, I'd feel awful showing up empty handed. I'd get a gift Chat Icon

I always bring a cute boy bib and a cute girl bib. Then I return the bib I don't give them.

I would probably do something small like a board book and a rattle type toy.

Gender reveal party question

I wouldn't - you will be giving a gift at the baby shower. I'd bring a congratulations card.

In my experience not everyone brings gifts....I'm just that type of person that doesn't like to go somewhere empty handed. I would pick up a small boy and girl outfit and return the one you don't give
If you don't want to deal with returning, get a small toy/stuffed animal/rattle/books
I would avoid a gender neutral article of clothing

If you had to bring anything, just bring a picture frame. There's no way I'd be bringing both a girl and boy gift, then returning what I bought. Too much.

I don't think you are required to...but a small, token gift (picture frame, outfit, or even something for the mama to be) is a thoughtful idea.

I just looked this up to learn about what this is. It's a little bizarre to me and if its another reason to have a party then bring a bottle of wine!!Chat Icon

I'd bring something baby related in lieu of a hostess gift. A frame, milestone calendar, unisex socks or booties, etc.

Re: Gender reveal party question

You don't have to bring anything and I personally only would if super close to mom to be and was honestly super excited myself about the baby like if I was the aunt or something
Gifts are not the purpose of the party, its just the parents wanting to celebrate their baby gender with others they love

I have brought a girl outfit and boy outfit for my close family that had one.
When I went to a good friends I brought a dessert - I made chocolate covered strawberries and made them pink and blue.

Re: Gender reveal party question

We had ours and only had immediate and Godparents.

I told those who attended not to bring gifts.
