Gender Reveal Parties Get Big Press
New York Times had a big story this weekend about the popularity of gender reveal parties! If DH were patient enough to do this, we might!

I love these parties! We are this time but for #2 I told DH I want to find out and have one of these parties. He basically rolled his eyes at me, he just doesn't get it.

Re: Gender Reveal Parties Get Big Press
The reporter was a bit snarky that the reason people are doing this now is because of the Facebook culture and sharing everything, but i just think it's anew idea that got popular once people started finding out the sex...it also sounds a lot more fun than finding out "in a dark room with a stranger" as they say in the article.
But we are too impatient to wait even that long, so oh well. Some of those cakes are really beautiful!!

Re: Gender Reveal Parties Get Big Press
we did a gender party this time around (we did not know ~ I know it is weird the sono tech and baker knew before us) at first my hubby thought it was weird but after waiting the extra few days ~ it landed up being so much fun to share this experience with our close family and friends! The whole time at the party everyone was asking when we were cutting the cake ~ it was so much fun! and a lot better than finding out with the sono tech in the room (we did that with ds)
Plus we wanted to have a get together ~ we were suppose to have a xmas get together but with MS/all day sickness in full effect we had to cancel those plans.

Re: Gender Reveal Parties Get Big Press
It wasn't for us, but our friends did it (they knew but didn't tell anyone -- guests had to dress in pink/red or blue to the party so they couldn't change their guess) and it was really a lot of fun! They even called the bakery down in FL to make cupcakes filled with the gender color and had her mom on video feed so they could find out all at the same time! I think it's lots of fun if you're into it!
DH called his parents as he left the doctor's office -- I already had an email from his mom before I was done with my appointment with the OB after the u/s lol. We did NOT expect to find out at 12 w though -- it was such a shock!
I'm still of the mindset that it's a surprise no matter when you find out, but I think if people want to find more reasons to have a party, by all means!!!
