Re: Gender Reveal?

we found out the gender. neither DH or I had any desire to wait until birth as we are both big planners and want to be able to start planning the nursery, names, etc. plus, knowing it's a girl, i like referring to the baby as "her".

Re: Gender Reveal?

we decided to wait and just find out when the baby is born. it is one of the few surprises left in life and i want to enjoy it when it happens (yes i know its still a surprise when the ultrasound tech tells you but imo its not the same).
most people are thrilled we are waiting bc so few people wait nowadays and because it is just so exciting when you get that call/text/email with a picture announcing baby baby/girl has arrived! of course its still great news knowing someone gave birth anytime, but when you know what they are expecting its just not the same

we plan on doing a gender neutral room and also wanted to get neutral stuff like stroller, carseat etc bc we do plan on having more than one and so we want to be able to reuse things.

i know my family and friends and once the baby arrives they will all come visit (at the hospital or at home) with a gift - most likely some type of outfit that will be gender appropriate so we arent worried about clothing.

there are pros and cons to both

Gender Reveal?

We have found out both pregnancies (and I'm 2 and done so this is it) because I'm a planner and we wanted to know. Chat Icon It's a personal decision and I don't think there's a right or wrong about it. I consider team green people very "strong" lol! I admire that! For me, finding out at 19 weeks last time (and 12 weeks this time!!!) was a HUGE surprise and I've been able to bask in it and love it! Chat Icon

As far as a gender reveal party goes, my friend did one back in December and it was sooooooo much fun!!!!! She and her husband found out together before the party and then everyone coming to the party had to wear either red/pink or blue to indicate their guess. Then we played a bunch of different games relating to gender determination and whether old wives tales were true. Then she gave out chocolate cupcakes that had been filled with the gender color so we could all break them open / bite in at the same time to find out together! Her mom lives in FL and they called the bakery in FL to make the same kind of cupcakes for her mom and they had her on Skype so her mom found out at the same time as all of us at the party! It really was something very special and so much fun!

Re: Gender Reveal?

we did a gender reveal party last month. We had both of our families to our house and had a cake made. I was so much fun and everyone had a great time; but, the anticipation between the sonogram and our party (which was 9 days apart) was killer, well worth it in the end!

We didn't find out, I'm a big planner (HUGE), but my DH really wanted the surprise. He wanted to go out into the waiting room and say it's a boy/girl. I was on the fence because I felt like I was going to miss out on that moment, but he recorded it for me. I actually loved not knowing and I think that it really kept my over planning nature in check. I had to wait on buying a whole wardrobe and what not, which I really think helped keep my spending in check, haha. I really loved thinking about whether she was a boy or girl and being able to imagine both. It also is awesome because this time around we don't have to worry about having too many girly things and having to reuse them. On a total side note I've noticed if you know the gender people tend to buy a lot less necessities at showers and more fun clothes. I'm so guilty of it because who can pass up a cute girl outfit in place of bottles.

Not knowing was great! I obviously, don't know how it feels to know, but from my perspective not knowing was awesome! I totally recommend it.

Thats awesome!!! I kinda feel the same way now.. I always thought I would want to knwo or do a gender reveal party but when my sis in law had a baby the best thing was waiting in the hospital for my brother to come out and say what gender it was!! There nothing like that feeling and for that matter I think we are going to wait!! Although it will kill me not to want to plan in advance!!!! My hubby really wants to be surprised so I will give that to him!!Chat Icon

This is my feeling. I am a total planner and control freak so I def knew I wanted to find out and thankfully DH wants to know as well. We will not be doing a gender revel party however. Once we find out, we will be so excited I think we will just be calling everyone!
