Gd girls - question
All day today after my meals my numbers have been high. I have had the same meals I've been eating all along and got numbers in the 150s
I have had a very stressful/ emotional day could this be causing problems for me?

Re: Gd girls - question
Stress can definitely screw with your numbers. So can being sick or even if you are coming down with a cold or something.
Just keep in mind though, that the further you get into your pregnancy, your hormone levels change which can also mess with your blood sugar levels, so it's important to keep track. If you see that your numbers are consistently being high, then you should change your meals around and let your Dr. know. I ended up having to take medication because my morning #'s were starting to be consistently high. (not insulin though).

Did you really scrub your hands before you tested? Did you try the test solution and see if your meter is working correctly?
I can defffffffinitely say that stress elevates your levels. Before I stopped working I noticed a significant difference. Same foods. Higher numbers.

Re: Gd girls - question
Because GD is completely based on your fluctuating hormone levels you will find that there will be times where a meal that once yielded good numbers is now causing your numbers to spike. When that happens you need to change what your eating, increase your insulin etc. When I had GD I was in a constant state of adjustment. The fact that your numbers are spiking with meals that have never given you a problem before is a sign you need to make a change.

I had foods that worked for weeks....... all of a sudden the numbers crept up. i thought Id' just stick to the salads, but got tired of it, they gave me the glyburide pill and it really helped.

Stress can definitely increase your numbers. Also, did you start a new pack of test strips? Maybe there's something wrong with them.

Re: Gd girls - question
Yes could be stress or did you eat your meals too close together? I have noticed that if I dont allow enough time between, esp if there is a high number, it stays high all day, ugh.

Gd girls - question
Well it looks like so far today I have fared better. No bad numbers yet. Yesterday something happened and I was very upset. I also didn't eat any snacks yesterday just my meals. I still have to test dinner today but I go back to the endocrinologist so I'll discuss it tomorrow. Thanks girls

not eating snacks can also hurt the numbers... I always try and eat my snack right after my 2 hr test or I will forget to snack
