GD and A1C test?
I'm curious if anyone else with GD took an a1c test around 35 weeks?
The nurse told me I would get it to test for pre-diabetes. I'm thinking they can't possibly test for pre-diabetes until after I give birth because if my levels are high over the last few months, it's due to the GD!

Hmm, that doesn't make any sense to me. It would tell if your GD numbers are well controlled but that's it, far as I'm concerned. I was never told I would have an A1C at that time.

Re: GD and A1C test?
I had glucose intolerance, which they treated the same as GD. I took the A1C when I was first diagnosed and again around 36 weeks. My daily numbers were fine. I think the place that monitored me just wanted to do additional monitoring. There was nothing mentioned about using it to test for pre-diabetes.

Re: GD and A1C test?
i am doing an A1C post baby at about 6 weeks. My numbers continued to be high in the hospital after delivering. It doesnt make sense to do it prior to the birth of the baby. It checks 3 months of sugar control. Women are insulin insufficient in second and third trimester- if you are diagnosed wtih gd, obviously there have been signs that sugar hasnot been controlled. Sounds weird. id queston it.
