Gas!

I got home from work today to a great surpise - National Grid was on my corner, tearing up my sidewalk. The people who bought the house across the street just paid to have them bring in a gas main, and apparently it's most convenient for National Grid to put it on my corner. So I chatted with the crew for a few minutes and they told me that since the main is already in front of my house, they can put in lines to bring it to my house... for free!

This is super exciting because my (oil) burner is literally 60 years old. We were about 2 weeks away from buying a new one. Now we'll just wait a few more weeks and buy a gas burner. I called National Grid and they made an appointment for a plumber to come to my house next week.

I'm so excited to have a gas stove again, you have no idea.

Edited to ask: Has anyone here done a conversion to gas? Can you recommend your plumber? I'd like to get a few estimates. Thanks!

I didn't convert, but Hubbard Plumbing in Kings Park (?) moved our gas line for our stove and they were great. very professional and the owner came to check the work!

Thanks for the recommendations. Has anyone used a plumber in Seaford/Wantagh/Levittown/nearby areas? We're in a Levitt ranch and they come with some weird design issues, so I'd like to use someone familiar with them.
