Garden city
can you tell me the ins and outs please of garden city? there is a chance we are buying a house from a family member there. the street is in the president section? I think thats what its called. its on the border of stewart manor.
how do the trains work, how does the scool district work (I know its garden city because their kids went there, but it looks like there are multiple elementary schools?)
What kind of crazy rules beside the parking do they have?
Since its a family members house, I can't change the location but I was just wondering about the area.
thanks!

Re: Garden city
my sister lives in GC ... the no parking on the streets over night rule you seem to know.. also, no pools and fences can not be over 4 ft tall. Her kids do K-1 at the Hemlock school and then move onto the school on the corner of stewart and clinton (don't know the name). I know the schools are good and that was one reason they bought there!

Re: Garden city
Responded to your questions via FM but wanted to add you asked about parking. The village rule is no overnight street parking between 2am and 6am. If you have company and need to park on the street for some reason (i.e. too many cars b.c of company or they are working on your driveway) you can go to the village police station and sign a sheet that will allow you to park for the night (I can't remember but I think you have to do it every night for up to I think 3 nights). Honestly it really isn't a big deal.

Re: Garden city
A lot of people thet live in that area can walk to either NHP train station or the Stewart Manor station. If you commuter, it's a great location because it gives you the option of two train lines. NHP is the main line and SM is the Hempstead line.
