Furniture Question....(cherry)
I never thought the search for cribs and furniture would be this hard! I picked out a set from Simplicity from Target and my father saw it and feels it is not good quality...he is also feeling that the "cherry" finish will scratch easily and be more noticeable. What are your thoughts or suggestions and post pics too if you have.
My dad is buying the furniture and says it is up to me in the end,but I have been second guessing everthing I pick and I wonder if I should stay away from the darker finishes?
Please help!

Re: Furniture Question....(cherry)
I have an inexpensive cherry desk from furnakit and it is very pretty, but your Dad is right it scratches very easy and it shows because it is not good quality real wood. I can not imagine if it was for a child.

Re: Furniture Question....(cherry)
I ordered darker wood for the nursery... the crib is from Bellini so I have no doubts it will last b/c it's good quality. The dresser on the other hand is from BRU it's Wendy Bellisimo and from what I understand it's not good quality, but even if it's just something to get us through until we get a larger house then it's worth it.
Honestly, growing up I had dark wood in my bedroom and so did my sister... I've had my sister's former dresser in my house up until a week ago - so it's about 25 or so years old and it was a bit scratched up but it's also 25 years old. I wanted to restain it, but DH didn't want to be bothered and I can't do it b/c of the fumes. Currently I have 2 cherry dressers from furnikit in our bedroom - yes they scratch easily but the 2 dressers were like $400 together! I don't expect much from them... again, as long as it lasts until we get into a larger house it's fine.
