just wondering if you have your furniture secured to the walls at home (dressers, bookcases etc)

No, but our TV is mounted to the wall and the boxes are in the closet so you don't see them. Most of the furniture is big and heavy and the kids don't climb on it.

some of it. a couple of shelving units in our living room that we keep toys on are secured to the wall.... mainly bc my son will try to climb on it to get a toy that is high up

I answered yes, some of it because I want to mount his tall dresser to the wall. Hopefully DH will do it before DS goes to college!
I live in a small apartment so 95% of the time were together so I can watch him. If we lived in a home it would be a different story.

None. But when he moves from his crib to his bed we will be securing his dresser.

Yes. We have a very active kid.
If we hadn't fastened it, he would have been severely injured.

Bookcases and dressers are anchored. Night stands are not anchored.

We don't in this apartment, but we took down anything that I feared may fall (CD/DVD towers, unsteady bookcases) when DS started moving around - and because of that mother's story, when we finally move, I told DH I wanted everything secured, especially in DS' room. Right now his dresser is attached to his crib and we live out of laundry bins, so it's okay.

No, and we should. We bought anchors, but haven't done it yet. It is totally negligent of us.

Never did it no matter what age she was. I have seen the stories, the videos the heart breaking tales... but still no.

I think it depends on the child. AJ was never out of our sight. I'd strap her into her car seat and leave her at the door of the bathroom, her room was tiny in NY but nothing in there was even capable of tipping over nor was she in there alone. Her alone times were in a crib she never climbed out of. She didn't use objects to hold herself up either. She just stood up and used us as lean-ons from time to time. It never was an issue. She never reached for the TV or any object heavy.

So I guess I should say I'm lucky. She survived her childhood much like I did mine.. totally oblivious the dangers.

If however she'd been a climber or a more active child, I may have done differently.

we have the TV mounted to the TV stand. The dressers in their room are not secured yet. However, we are getting ready to transition into toddler beds and will be securing the tall and the long dressers in their rooms this weekend. I also bought Drawer locks so they can't open the drawers i the their room and still climb on the dressers.
