How Do I Find Newspaper Articles From 1981?
I've been looking forever for an article from a newspaper, or anything for that matter from 1981.
My grandfather was the 3rd Deputy Chief of the East Meadow Fire Depatment in 1981 and he died in the line at a Uniondale warehouse fire. My family doesn't talk about him much, it took me 26 years to collect that much info. The same day he died, my great-grandma (his MIL) died as the result of a minor fire in her Northport home. I thought this would be significant enough to be in a paper, but I can't find anything.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I think you would only have a problem if you tried to take a book/cd/dvd/video out. But you should be okay.
I actually went looking for old newspapers clippings too and they had that cool machine that you can use.

Try NewsDay or NewYork Times Online Archives..they may go back that far.
Or you could try the East Meadow Fire Department. Im sure those old timers would love to talk about Grandpa.

the library should have it on microfisch or however you spell it. they have old newspapers.

I know the Northport library would have Newsday on Microfilm from 1981. Try your local library and then if not there try East Meadow and Northport/EastNorthport libraries
