 any recommendations?

I can't recommend one in particular, but there are a bunch of them along 6th Street, in the East Village.

 | Re: Looking to find a good Indian Restaurant in NYC There is a good one on 56th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues. I believe it is called Sitar. (Or Star?)
They have a great lunchtime buffet.

It's inexpensive and if you're not an experienced Indian food eater, then it's a great opportunity to sample different foods without commiting to one dish.

I believe it is Sitar. Across the street is Bay Leaf, which is supposed to be wonderful also.

DH used to live a block over from here, but I was always too chicken to try Indian food!

 | Re: Looking to find a good Indian Restaurant in NYC Vatan is really good. It's vegetarian, but even our die hard meat loving friends really like it. It's price fixe (between $20 and $25) and they have a ton of food. It's on 3rd and 29th. |

 | Re: Looking to find a good Indian Restaurant in NYC Oh VatanDon't you sit on the floor there? That place is excellent
It's all you can eat but they bring it on a tray -- small portions so you can taste each one & then you ask for more of what you liked.

 That place is really good!

 | Re: Looking to find a good Indian Restaurant in NYC I suggest just going to 6th street between 2nd and 3rd and walking until you find a place you think looks nice. That is what DH and I do and we have never had a bad experience. Great food and nice intimate little places. |
