Group B Strep
i was just diagnosed with the "group b strep" bacteria. i have to start on antibiotics right away. does anyone know anything about this?

I had it. Not a biggie. Just make sure that you let the dr's know when you are at the hospital and ready to have the baby so that you can be treated for it (they'll hook you onto an IV drip w/antibiotics) so that it doesn't pass onto the baby in the birth canal.

I had it too, you start on antibiotics when you go into labor to make sure it is not transferred to the baby during labor. No biggie, I was treated with each pregnancy even though only my 1st pregnancy came back pos for strep b

Why are they starting you on antibiotics now? Usually they just give them to you when you go into labor.
