Fuming over a solicitation call
OMG I am FUMING right now.
I am working and just got a call on my cell phone from an "unknown number" That's how it appeared on my phone. Normally I don't pick up calls like this or #'s I don't know but I just placed an order online and am waiting for confirmation.
So the guy on the other line goes into a few sentences about how my names is a preferrec customer in a contest bc I have a Visa or MC.
I told him, listen I'm not interested right now and I am working.
He then has the nerver to say "Then let me ask why did you answer the phone, just to say you can't andswer the phone. That's very cute ... and some other not so nice ramblings"
OMG is he serious??? I hung up after I gave him a few choice words and am sitting here shocked!

Re: Fuming over a solicitation call
Wow, rude! I have gotten a few nasty remarks from solicitors as well. Seems they are getting nastier with their replies.

Re: Fuming over a solicitation call
The security dept at my job ( I work for a government contractor) sent us this in an email. REMEMBER: Cell Phone Numbers Go Public this month. REMINDER..... all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sales calls.
.... YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS
To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone: 888-382-1222. It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your time.. It blocks your number for five (5) years. You must call from the cell phone number you want to have blocked. You cannot call from a different phone number.
HELP OTHERS BY PASSING THIS ON .. It takes about 20 seconds.

this is false if you look on Snopes.com. The same email has been going around for years.
Sorry you had to deal with that annoyance though. How unprofessional!

I know it is an urban legend that there is a dealine for this but it is not an urban legend that telemarkters are starting to call more & more people on their cellphones.
I know about 10 or more people including DH & myself that have started to get these telemarketing calls on their cellphones within the last month.
It can't hurt to still call and be on the do not call list.
