FTWM - Bad weekends?
We had a bad weekend this weekend. DD (4.5 months) was a little more cranky than usual (probably teething). Saturday I needed some time alone and Sunday DH needed some time alone. We just got to the end of our ropes.
DH and I were talking and wondering if us being at work all week and DD in daycare is getting us "out of practice". We are worried that the little amount of time that we get with her during the weekdays is hurting the way we deal with her.
The part that kills me is that I need to work, so time with her will never change. I don't want it to get worse.
Does anyone else feel this way? Can I just blame the way DH and I are feeling on an uncomfortable weekend for DD?

For me personally, no I don't feel this way and I think you can just chalk it up to having a bad weekend with her, kwim? Maybe she didn't feel well, but don't feel like you are getting "out of practice" b/c you aren't with her 24 hours a day.
This past weekend, I believe Joey cried all of Sunday, even at the GTG. I wouldn't chalk that up to me not knowing how to handle him b/c I work all but he wasn't feeling well & was having a bad day.

Re: FTWM - Bad weekends?
Sometimes we ALL need a mental health day - babies included! I think it was just a fluke, it's hard to deal with a fussy baby at the end of a long work week. I don't think you guys are out of practice at all, but I would have a chat with your DH to make sure you guys are on the same page with how you handle certain situations. If there's anything that babies thrive on it's consistency - it really helps center them and makes them calmer.

Re: FTWM - Bad weekends?
I think being back at work makes us "forget" how hard it really is being home all day. At least you have DH off when you're off! DH works rotating shifts and I only see him on weekends once every 6 weeks - so for 5 weeks I'm home ALONE with DS all to myself until 7pm!!!! I don't get a "day off" to relax or take time for myself. Enjoy it and don't feel guilty!!!! It's hard work!

Re: FTWM - Bad weekends?
Thank you ladies.
I guess it's just working mom guilt. I am really feeling it this week.
