Frustrated
First off how do you ladies pull off taking off mornings for sono/bloodwork... I am a teacher and there is no way I can keep going into school late. The doc office will not make an exception for me and I basically have no option but to go in only Saturdays'
Second off I thought I was going in today to start the IUI process. Well my doc decided that she wants to try me on a stronger dose of the temoxifen. She said my insurance company has been getting more strict this month and that she has to exhaust all options before starting any IUI or IVF. She also said that IUI will not be good for me but I can't do IVF without trying IUI first.
I wish I was as strong as all of you ladies on here. but this stuff really gets me down/upset/frustrated
thanks for listening

Re: Frustrated
what time do you have to be at school? My RE opens at 6:30 during the week for monitoring. When I worked in NYC, I used to always get the first available appt and manage to get to work by 9:00 (my day started at 8:30 and I would take 1/2 hour for lunch that day).
I just started up again and sure didnt miss these early azz appts (especially now with a toddler who hates his stroller and screams his flipping head off the whole time we are there )
i hate this process...I. HATE. IF.

Re: Frustrated
The only thing I can think of is to find an RE close to where you work. When I was the first appt (and I would get there 10 minutes before they opened to make sure I was!) I was in and out within 15 minutes.
I'm sorry we have to go through this BS

Re: Frustrated
You never know how strong you really are until you go through IF. You will get through it and we will all be here to support you.
It's really hard with the early morning monitoring. I agree with Domino about finding someone who is closer to work with earlier hours. At my old RE, they opened at 7 and I was able to be in and out in 15 minutes and at work by 7:30 (which was a little bit late, but I could get coverage for those 15 minutes).
I would talk to your principal and explain the situation (if you are comfortable doing so) and see what they can help you work out.
This is all very difficult and frustrating!

Re: Frustrated
i teach. i got lucky with my schedule this year and my principal has been very understanding about my morning duty period. not sure what i would do if i taught first period though. even so, i've had to battle with the RE office here and there when the early appointments were booked. when i've explained that i can't get to work that late because i'm a teacher and my schedule is not flexible, they just tell me they have a lot of teachers...blah blah blah.
the undue stress of juggling appointments can't be good for fertility

Re: Frustrated
Like bookworm, there were some days where they told me the first available appts were booked. I never listened though...I still went in as if I had the first appt. 8 times out of 10 they took me earlier than if I had waited until my "true" appt was

Yes, my RE actually tells me to just make an appt and then come early. The ALWAYS squeeze me in.

Re: Frustrated
IF is a very frustrating and stressful process. But, you will get through it. I never thought I was a strong person until I struggled with IF.
My suggestion to you would be to talk to your principal. As much as you may not want him/her to know what you are going through it may be your only option.
I have a lot of flexibility in my office as far as hours are concerned, but once we moved to IVF I had no choice but to talk to my boss because I knew I'd be missing a lot of work. He was completely understanding. You may be surprised about how understanding people can be when you tell them what you are going through.
Good luck!
