Fruit flies/nats in the bathroom?

The past 2 days I've noticed that in our master bathroom we have these little fruit flies or nats flying around. I'm killing them as I see them but I must have killed 7 or 8 by now (gross)! I have no idea where they're coming from or how to get rid of them. Anyone have this problem before?

They are drain flies! I just noticed a couple in my bathroom too today. I've poured vinegar down there and covered the drain with a lid/cup, etc. and had luck.

I did this last night (along with scouring the entire bathroom top to bottom because I was so grossed out) but when I woke up this morning there were still one or two that I saw flying around. Maybe I'll try it again tonight but this time cover the drain after.

By Pequa at plumbing supply store, home depot , Ace etc. Pour it down the drain. They live off the grime in the drain and reproduce at a crazy rate. The Pequa will work perfect.

We have a ton at work. I kill at least 4 a day.

It's the drain. I agree with the bleach.

shoprite sells a fruit fly catcher.

I read that they like wine and will drown so I left an open bottle of wine on the counter. That killed them, but I had to sacrifice my wine.

We had them also but they weren't in the drain - they were behind the caulk around the shower pan. So if they don't go away with bleach in the drain, try around the caulk. It takes a while to get rid of them sometimes.

ETA: Also keep the shower dry - they like dampness.

Fruit flies/nats in the bathroom?

This happened in my house but it was due to a dry drain/toilet. We rarely used our guest bathroom. Once I got the every drain in the house wet, they went away.

Hmm...my son lives with us every other week so for a week at a time his bathroom goes completely un-used. They're in his bathroom too, which the pipes connect to our master bathroom. I wonder if it could be that?
