Front yard - grass seed

I was thinking of redoing our front very lumpy yard. We got a 40lb bag of seed and have a rototiller and would get some top soil/fertilizer then spread the seed. Is it bad to do this in early spring (late march/early april?) or we really should wait for fall?

We are starting our lawn next week, fetilizers, weed blocks etc.

You can start grass in the Spring but you can't use a weed killer.

So if you plan on doing a weed killer like most people do (around yellow flower flowering time), you will have to wait at least 3 months to seed. Then it's too hot. Hence why people seed in the Fall.

I always seed in the Spring. It won't germinate until it's much warmer though. I don't seed until end of April/early May.
