Front load washer people....
Does your washer smell like mildew? We have had our washer for almost 2 years, and we can't get rid of this mildew smell.... Is this normal? Has anyone else had an issue like this? We have used those tide cleaners to clean the washing machine, but they don't work. What did you do?

We leave the door of the washer open to let it air out. We also use the things you drop in to clean it, and sometimes I run a load of towels with vinegar in them.
Also, try cleaning the rubber gasket part, you might have some mold under the lip of it.

Ours was starting to take on a kind of musty smell. We got into the habit of leaving the door open for a little while after use to let it air dry... usually by the time the dryer finishes going should be ok to close. It's helped so far.

We've had ours about a year now & no funky smells yet....
After we're done using it we leave the door WIDE open overnight & then in the morning just close it - but never close it tight.

I had that problem when I had my first front loader. Someone posted on another forum about this issue with FL. He said to use a lot of Cascade dishwasher detergent with enzymes on the hot cycle and it worked. No more funky smelling machine.

Oh and stop using fabric softener for a while and use distilled white vinegar instead.

We just got ours two weeks ago so I'm sure it's too soon to tell but I had heard of the problem when we were shopping for them so we asked a ton of questions.
We were told by the salesman to leave the door open for a bit after the last wash cycle to let it air dry. And more importantly to wipe down the rubber area where water collects in the door before leaving the door ajar so we've been really diligent with it.

I've had mine since May and have never had any kind of smell coming from the washer. I ALWAYS dry the outer rubber ring with a dry towel, including the space under rubber (i keep a towel next to washer for only this purpose) and dry the door. Then I leave the door ajar for about a day. Also, my machine, an LG, requires "maintenance." I pull open this little door and take the hose out and drain the water. I do it maybe every 6-8 weeks. Takes 2 minutes.
