Fried Green Tomatoes...
Dh cleaned up the garden this past weekend. Quite a few big green tomatoes left. I have jars of pickled green tomatoes , so I wanted to try something new with them... I pulled a few recipes online and they all look pretty similar, but just wanted to get opinions of anyone on here who has made them...anyone?
TIA!
PS- If you have other suggestions- I'm open to them!

It's pretty simple. Egg wash or soak them in buttermilk, dredge in a mixture of seasoned flour or cornmeal, then fry.
I find it comes best when fried in a cast iron skillet.

Re: Fried Green Tomatoes...
I had the best ones at joes stone crab. They are soo good.
I have made them before.
I like mine pretty thin cut and I scoop out the seeds in the middle to make them less watery.
Mix half cornmeal and seasoned breadcrumbs a dash of cayenn pepper, salt and cracked pepper in a dish.
Beat two eggs in a bowl
Heat canola oil in a large pan
Much like chicken cutlets dip the tomatoe in egg wash, then bread, then fry, transfer to a paper towel lined plate to drain. Also wh they are still hot i like to sprinkel with a little extra salt and maybe some extra red pepper.

Re: Fried Green Tomatoes...
I followed the same recipes PP's did for making the fried green tomatoes. Then I saw I recipe in a Rachel Ray magazine where she took the fried green tomatoes and put it on a roll with bacon and ricotta (I used turkey bacon) it was soooooooooooo good. DH loved it too.

Re: Fried Green Tomatoes...
i know it's important to salt them and leave them in a colander or on layers of paper towels so the water seeps out. that keeps them from getting soggy when you fry them.
