Fridge died in house, we're closing next Thurs!
They are willing to give us a credit to replace the fridge (which was really old)...how much should we ask for??
Update below!

Re: HELP! Fridge died in house, we're closing next Thurs!
Side by side or up and down? I would ask for $1,500K if you're getting SS. You might have to spend a little more for something fancy - but I think $1,500 is fair.
ETS: In seeing that their fridge was really old, you might just ask for $1K to be fair.

i would like to agree with the 1000 - 1500 but they could feel that it is too much and say that they will replace it so you might end up with a crappy one.
with that i would low ball it and say 800

I would say between $800.00 and a $1000.00

Typically it states in the contract how much the seller has to pay per appliance if the appliance is not in "working condition" when the buyers move in.

Re: HELP! Fridge died in house, we're closing next Thurs!
Thanks for your suggestions ladies, unfortunately I don’t think there’s any way we’ll get close to those amounts, although that’s what it will probably cost us to get what we want. It didn’t state anything in our contract as far as I know. Found out from our realtor that the sellers were going to replace the fridge with the cheapest fridge they could find if they didn’t give us a credit, which they thought would be $300. After doing some research we asked for $500. The cheapest “regular” top freezer white fridge (what it was) at Sears was $389, and $350 at HD, plus shipping and haul away for the old one. That was our argument, since that’s what they would do if they replaced it. This way at least we can get what we want and we’ll get some money back. I don’t think there’s a way we would get them higher than $500. We’ll see what they say. Obviously we’re going to spend more to replace it but we would have anyway…at least it happened this week and not next week, b/c then we would have had to pay for the whole thing.
I mean this fridge was so old it actually had the wood tone handles like old fridges used to have…my Mom’s fridge like that died about 8 years ago...it was bound to happen….

We have the exact same fridge from our sellers-wood tone handles....we will be redoing our kitchen obviously.

350 would be nice, my mom just had a similiar problem and her attorney as much as she is a shark could only get 150 for each appliance- washer/dryer/dishwasher that was listed with the description of home but not really there. good luck.

We just sold our condo and our lawyer put in our contract that the max we are responsible for for any broken appliance is $150, so I'd take anything more than that and run! Enjoy the new house!
