Freaking out (skin care safety)
So I've been so careful about everything this pregnancy and didn't even think about the wrinkle cream I've been using on my skin for years. (yes i am 27 and use wrinkle cream I'm paranoid lol) Well I just checked the ingredients online, it's L’Oreal Revitalift and it contains retinol A. I googled it and it says its big no no. Totally freaking out now, has anyone asked their Doctor about this!!! I haven't even been wearing nail polish because my doctor told me it was best not to and now i totally missed this. I feel like such a bad mommy.

Re: Freaking out (skin care safety)
In my 1st tri I used a facial wash w/salicylic acid in it, then I read that it has not been tested in preg women and to avoid it...so I stopped and switched to something else. I was ****** b/c I too have been avoiding nailpolish!
Just mention it to your Dr. and see what he says...there are so many things for us to worry about, it is hard to avoid every source of toxin imagineable!

Re: Freaking out (skin care safety)
I am a research & development scientist in skincare and will tell you the amount of retinol A in there is probably so small. Plus in a topical product there is no gaurentee it is penetrating the skin and entering the bloodstream. I would not worry. Just stop using it. What is the exact name of the product, I could look into it further if you want.

I got a chemical peel facial when I was first pregnant, I'm sure that has a lot more bad chemicals in it then the wrinkle cream. I think you should be ok. Would I continue using it? No, but I don't think you did any harm.

This is the actual cream. I use the night time one as well. I love it because it has SPF in it too. I guess I need to find something new to use.

Re: Freaking out (skin care safety)
I just looked at it - contains retinyl palmitate I am estimating at 0.2% or less in the formula. Vitamin A is harmful during pregnancy at 10,000 IU per day so this would be NOTHING to worry about. I also checked Loreal's FAQ and it states their products are safe to use while pregnant. I would still stop using it though, vitamin a from other sources can add up so now that you know don't take the risk. I wouldnt worry about previous use though.

Thank you so much!!!! Do you mind me asking what you use as a moisturizer. I used Cetaphil a long time ago would that be good?

I had the same issue with my moisturizer (Murad) when I was pregnant w DD...I just stopped using it when I realized what was in it. I switched to Dermalogica. And thanks for the reminder, now I need to check my Olay and see what's in it

Re: Freaking out (skin care safety)
Any over the counter products have a safe amount of Vitamin A in them. I still use my Retinol nighttime cream.
