We are transferring dd out of the day care she has been at since 12 weeks old to all day nursery school. Her daycare isn't what it used to be but it's breaking my heart and im freaking out that it will hurt her and she won't make new friends. She will be going to the same school that she will be attending for prek and k. Dh keeps telling me to breath and reminds me how much money will be saving.

Don't worry. She is young. She will meet new friends. Change is good. Dd1 changed schools every year since 2. Lol. This is the first year in K that she will be in the same school next year. Dd2 is going to a new preschool in the fall. Unless we move it will be this way lol. Dd has never has a problem adjusting

Re: Freaking out

Kids are resilient. It may be a tough start, but I bet she adjusts fine. At her age, I'm sure there will be LOTS of kids attending school for the first time not knowing anyone, so there will be a great opportunity to meet people from the start.

Dh keeps telling me dd can make friends with a rock. She is really outgoing and just goes up to random kids. She loves hugs and has a best friend at her current school. I'm just sad and hopes she bonds with the other kids and loves her teacher. Her current teacher is moving in July.so.it will be a lot of.changes within 2 months and I'm just worried.

your DH is right. While she might have a short time period for adjustment - that is normal. She will be fine!

I promise that it's harder on you than it is on her. Plus, you're going to have to make the transition eventually anyway, so might as well "get it over with" now!

Re: Freaking out

I felt this way when DD started K in Sept.
She had been at the same daycare/preschool since 8 weeks old. It was so hard to leave there- it was like family to us.

But she did great. She made a new group of little friends and she loves it.
It was definitely harder for me than her.
Kids are resilient and they adjust super fast.
She will be fine!

Sorry I have no words of advice, as I'm right there with you! In July we are moving to Long Island and DD's whole life is going to change. She's been at her daycare since she was 6 months old and loves it (and I love it!). She will be in a new house, a new 2's program and we are getting an au pair, so a completely new person will be living with us and taking care of her.

I'm a nervous wreck that she is going to flip out with so many changes at once and be scarred for life, but DH keeps telling me the same things your DH is saying. That there may be an adjustment period, but she will be just fine and it's going to be much harder on mommy than on her.

Hugs to you though because I know what you are going through!

She will be ok. It may take a little adjustment. We moved my dd to a new daycare when she turned two and she adjusted beautifully. Much better than expected.
