Freaking out
Has anyone else had a bacterial infection during their pregnancy? The dr prescribed me something and after researching the class of drug and potential risks I'm freaking out! I know I need to treat this but I'm sitting here at my desk almost in tears at the thought that this medication could or could not cause childhood cancer...I'm I being crazy?

CRASHING - I've been in the medical field for more years than I can even believe and there's one REALLY important thing to remember about medications. If one person in 100,000 (sometimes out of even more) has a reaction/effect from the medication during trials, they have to put it on the warning label. That being said, all drugs are classified with a letter risk A & B are ok, that means that there are no known risks to human pregnancies. If there was something you read that makes you uncomfortable, call your doctor and have him prescribe you something else! There are so many different classes of antibiotics, there might be another one that has less of a "warning". Also, sometimes the risks of the medication are worth taking if the infection/disease is more likely to cause more harm (risk outweighs reward).

I was on them two weeks ago. What antibiotic is it?
I honestly didn't research as I figured the baby was more likely to be harmed if the infection passed into her

I would talk to the doctor if you are not comfortable taking the meds. But I honestly don't think the doc will give you something that would harm the baby. I'm sure the doctor would have mentioned any risks etc. Feel better hun

Who prescribed the medication? When my GP prescribed an antibiotic, I called my OB and cleared it with them. If they say it's ok, then trust them, not the internet.
My asthma rescue inhaler is a Category C which made me VERY nervous taking it, especially since my asthma got worse as my pregnancy went on. I spoke to my sister and she said "Oxygen is Category A and if you aren't getting that then you need to do whatever you can to get it." I told Dr. Bell this and she said she was going to use it for future consults in pregnant woman. As long as your OB clears it (you'll most likely speak to Amy) then I wouldn't worry too much about it. Like a PP said, if 1 person complains about it they have to put it on the label.

Stop googling!!!!! LOL! If Sanders prescribed it, it's fine. There are so many things that could factor in different illnesses, we can't avoid all of them. It's better to clear the infection before it spreads to the baby or your blood stream. It's fine, trust your doctor.

It felt like a yeast infection. I noticed a decrease in watery discharge and the top of my va jay jay was itchy as well as in between the crease of my thighs and pubic area. At my reg 34 week appt I had her take a culture
