Freaking out
Just went to my %&* of a gyno to get the results of my ultrasound done last month to take to the RE with me this week.
This is what it states: Uterus - 7.6 length, 5.1 wide, 3.9 cm in diameter (position is anteverted)
Under comments it says: arcuate uterus endo - 6 mm
Ovaries - Right - 3.1X2.5X2.9 cm Left - 3.3X2.3X2.4 cm
Comments: Bilat ovaries small perifphery cysts largest being 7mm suggestive of polycystic ovary syndrome
CONCLUSION: probable polycystic ov's (confirmed with my blood results - I have PCOS) arcuate uterus
Now, I am freaking out because I looked up arcuate uterus and am so confused by what this means? All I'm getting is "complications with pregnancy, etc" - What does this mean?
My gyno NEVER even mentioned anything about my uterus. I am so upset.
Can someone help?

Re: Freaking out
first off
I have a unicornate uterus, which in essence is half a uterus....complications due to there not being enough room for baby to develope. I am not familiar with your dx, but just wanted to offer you some support... I know what a shock it is to find something like this out.
I would call up my md and find out why they never said anything to me.
Best of luck
ETS: I found this online:
Class VI (arcuate uterus): US may detect the abnormality, but typically, it is not clinically significant because arcuate uterus has no significant negative effects on pregnancy outcome

Thank you so much for taking the time out to respond to my post. You definitely helped calm me down. I did a search online for this, but am not finding anything detailed enough to explain exactly what this is

Re: Freaking out
From what I could find, most studies say that an arcuate uterus has little or no effect on pregnancy outcomes.
I also think its difficult to detect uterine abnormalities on a sono, I think an HSG or further testing is needed to really make that kind of a diagnosis.

Re: Freaking out
Hey, I just saw this. I don't know anything about this but I just wanted to say I think you should try not to let this get to you right now. It sounds like your gyno isn't the greatest and I would wait it out to talk w/ your RE at your appointment and see what they can tell you about it.

It's just frustrating not having definite answers and then finding out additional info that I don't even understand!

You're going to see the RE today, right? You'll get many answers there, I am sure.

Re: Freaking out
I have an arcuate uterus also. It is just a slight dip in the top wall of the uterus and shouldn't cause any complications with pregnancy. My RE said there is a slight chance it could cause growth restriction during pregancy or preterm labor. But, most women that have this will go on to have perfectly normal pregencies.
