Fortune is unbelievable

So- here's the background:

We just moved. Normally the dogs are VERY good about going on the wee wee pads- but I guess they are messed up a little with the new house b/c they've been having lots of accidents.

So- I decided instead of crating them, I'll just get a gate and keep them i the kitchen with the potty pad and hopefully they will just get used to going on it- and eventually I can let them out.

Last night was the 2nd night that they were overnighting in the kitchen (they normally sleep with us- but they cannot do that anymore as they were having accidents in teh middle of the night).

This morning I heard some whining & scratching & my door- I thought the whining was coming from the kitchen and the scratching was one of the cats trying to get in.

When I got up to pee- it was Fortune! A 4 pound chihuhua somehow managed to scale and get over a 3 and a half food GATE!!!!

of course- he scaled it and had a poop and pee party all over the house.

i was fuming

When we got Annie from the pound we felt bad putting her in the crate so we gated her off in the kitchen at night. She learned how to open the sliding door one night and another night she shredded the wooden gate to pieces. She has stayed in her crate since then and on occasion in my parents bed.
I think she felt insecure in a new place without the security of her crate. Maybe your dog feels the same way. Can you bring the crate into your bedroom?
