Formula Question

DS is 5 1/2 weeks old. He gets breastmilk and Enfamil (just about equal amounts of each). He has always had 3-4 BMs/ day . However, on Saturday, he did not have a BM at all, then on Sunday he had 3 explosions (poop everywhere!) and they were just a little thicker than liquid. Yesterday, same thing happened, no BMs, but this morning he had another explosion.

Is it possible to have a reaction to formula this many weeks later? He has not been any more cranky than usual and is not turning the Enfamil away. Or could this be something else?

TIA!

Re: Formula Question

I dont know if its formula related but I have read that bowel movements may change after 6 weeks of life. They can even go days/week without a BM then have an explosive one. I also posted a similar question on here a few days ago. As long as the bowel movement is not too thick (it should be liquidity as usual) then there shouldnt be anything to worry about.

Re: Formula Question

My DS had times when he would have explosions and times when he didn't go as much.

Their pattern changes....as long as it is not changing their eating habits then I wouldn't worry.

Formula Question

It is totally normal for their poopie schedule to change. There was a point I want to say between weeks 5 and 8 that DS would go every 3 three days, then when he went it was BAD lol. It regulates on its own.

Re: Formula Question

thank you all so much! he had another explosion again today at 9 am, same time as yesterday, at least there's some sort of consistency, lol.
