Formula coming out of nose
DS is a little over a week old. For the past few days, whenever I feed him and then burp him, formula comes out of his nose. Sometimes he gets the hiccups and it also happens after feedings. I don't remember this with DD. Does anyone have any experience with this?? Thanks

Might be reflux. My DD didn't spit up often as a newborn, but when she did, it was through her mouth and nose...she ended up on reflux meds, but had other symptoms as well.

DS had this and ended up with reflux. I found that keeping him upright for 20 min after feeding really helped. Also, if you have a baby bjorn or slings where DS can just be upright for long periods time that is good too. He ended up on meds..but most babies don't need them and grow out of it by 3 months.

Yes this happened with my oldest dd she had reflux. We had to play arounds with different formulas. She was on 5 total and ended up good start gentle. I had to burp her in between ounces, hold her up right after feelings she was also on prescription medications.

DD does this ALL the time. And she screams from it  She has always gotten hicuups too. They say she has reflux but she doesn't scream non stop and isnt colicky, (just when this happens) so they say zantac wont work. I'm actually calling the gastro tomorrow because it obviously hurts her and its acid.
Does your little guy cry from it?

My baby had this when he was <12 weeks. His spit up often came out of his nose, pedi said it was normal. Never seemed to bother him much, just bothered me!

Formula coming out of nose
DS has this problem. The dr said it's acid reflux. He recommended I add a tiny bit of rice to his formula or use formula with rice protein in it. I'm on day one of trying this so not sure if it will help but DS only spit up once today and hasn't been too fussy.

My DD (6) had this when she was a baby. She then took reflux meds and I kept her at an angle. It is very scary when it happens!
Oddly enough, even now at 6 yo whenever she throws up it also comes out of her nose.

At just over a week old, I don't think I'd be overly concerned. DD had this occasionally for the first 3 weeks. Ped said it was common and it'd most likely work itself out, which it did. Good luck!

Thank you ladies. DD#1 had reflux so thats why i am worried. It was bad but DS doesnt cy when it happens but you can tell he's not comfortable.
