Formula
This is a double post from the pregnancy board...
I'm not planning to breast feed and I'm going to buy the store brand formula since it's the same as name brand but much cheaper. My question is, how do I know what type? Advantage, sensitive, gentle, complete?
I'm between target and BJs. Target has many options but a little more than BJs. BJs only has complete and sensitive.

Don't buy anything now. You don't know what you're gonna need. Just take a ton from the hospital and go from there

Re: Formula
Don't stock up on formula I did buy two things kept them unopened and returned what didn't work... I'm on third formula in ten weeks ... Target was great with returning with a receipt ... She even said if she's allergic I could return opened and used formula ! The target brand will say "compare to enfamil gentlease" or whatever brand name it's a copy of ... I started with newborn/infant one then gentlease now she's on soy (prosobee enfamil) ...

This. I had to change DD 3 times due to colic and then reflux.

Re: Formula
Just to let you know, 99% of generic formulas are made by the same parent company. So you can switch between stores (BRU, target, walmart, etc) and have no worries as long as you're using the same type (Enfamil regular, Similac sensitive, Enfamil gentlease, etc)
Like others have said I wouldn't stock up. But if you talk to the pediatrician you're using to see what formula they recommend to patients (some prefer one over the other for various reasons) I would buy 1 container of that so you at least have it.

Re: Formula
Take the money you would spend on stockimg up on he formula and buy target/cvs etc gift cards
So when the baby is here and you know what it prefers you have true "money" to buy ASAP

Re: Formula
We use the Walmart brand organic "Parents Choice". Super cheap and organic too. Can't beat that.
ETA: We order online. Many Walmarts do not carry it in store.

We switch between Similac when I have coupon checks but usually we buy the similar Target Up and Up Brand since it's double the amount and still cheaper price.
I have found though not all store brands are similar as the two times my husband bought the Rite Aid brand my DD was up every night starving for bottles until we switched her back.
