I couldn't agree more, in general. BUT, given that he was on THE BACHELOR - I think he has to say something
Yeah i think that is why he felt he had to say something.
If he was just a normal old guy, then yeah, not necessary to announce anything.
But he was on a show looking for a female fiancé so he probably felt he wanted people to know
