Foreskin adhesion

I just wanted to post for other mom's who's DS might have this since I was clueless and never would have thought there was a problem until DH told me to ask the Dr. about it. Apparently the skin on DS circ. sort of reattached itself and at his 2 mo. appt I asked and the Dr. simply pulled it back exposing some raw looking skin that still needs to heal. He whined a little bit but it wasn't too bad, she put some vasoline on it and I'll do the same once/day until it's better. I told her I was scared he'd have to get cut again and she said "If this were 3 months, it would be mroe complicated". I had never even heard of this before but I'm so glad I asked!

Re: Foreskin adhesion

That happened to my son, he was a little bit older... the Dr. had to numb it and pull it back... it was a HORRIBLE experience.. but I didn't know that it could happen.. I'm not an expert on peepees I guessChat Icon but it healed fine, just something Moms need to keep and eye on

Same thing happened to Jake. The Dr. pulled it back and it looked like it hurt but after that initial separation, he was fine, and we kept pulling it back until it healed.

I didn't know about it either until the Dr. said something.

Re: Foreskin adhesion

I don't know why no one warns you to watch out for this. (at least my Dr.'s didn't...) I felt bad enough him having to go through it the first time!!

Because you posted this, I'm going to warn my cousin who has a 3 week old. You are so right... they should warn us that way the babies don't have to go through the pain of pulling it back if it does adhere.

Re: Foreskin adhesion

My son has this (very minor) and he is a year. I have an apt at the urologist in a week but my ped doesn't think they will do anything b/c it is so minor. The ped doesn't think DS will have any problems in the futureChat Icon . I'm hoping the urologist says the same thing.....we'll see.......ETA: If I have another son I will definately check this often.

Re: Foreskin adhesion

My pediatrician said this unfortunately can be a problem for 2 years!! My sons isn't bad at all, he did have a little adhesion but she said she's seen ones where there was so much reattachment that basically another circ had to be performed. I can't imagine.

Re: Foreskin adhesion

This also happened to Caiden. It kept happening for 1-1.5 years. Then they get to a point that "it" grows bigger and the skin will just come off by itself and stay off. Chat Icon I had to continually keep pulling the skin back and his poor little thing was so raw. Just so you know he's fine now! Chat Icon

Yep, I posted about it before. WE had to take my son to a pediatric urologist at 1 year old. Definitely an eye opener. He is fine now Chat Icon

Re: Foreskin adhesion

This happened to my 2nd son. I asked his doctor if his circ was doing fine when he first saw him and he pulled it back then. I didn't know there was anything wrong either. He says this happens all the time. It would have been nice to know about it.
