Forehead Thermometer?
Do you use one of the forehead thermometers that you roll across the head? How do you like it? Is it fairly accurate? I know taking the temp rectally for an infant is the most accurate, but I'd like to get a forehead one too.
Thanks

Re: Forehead Thermometer?
waste of money , totally inaccurate....you should do it rectally and most doctors will only accept a rectal reading

Re: Forehead Thermometer?
I use it for my kids (they're older). I found it to be pretty accurate.
When they were infants, I used rectal thermometers, pacifier thermometers & the stickers that go under their arm.
They were all pretty good. The only one that I found didnt work is the ear one.

Re: Forehead Thermometer?
I have the forehead temperal one, I love it.
I found the forehead one to be accurate and the easiest to use.
When my 3 week old daughter & 15 month old were sick at the same time, it was quick & easy.
I took the rectal temp of my newborn right after I did the head scan and the numbers were exactly the same.

We use the forehead one when we are being paranoid parents. I guess if we really thought he had a temp we would use one of the other ones I have.

Re: Forehead Thermometer?
We use the ear one, and it's good if you want to find out if someone is "Healthy", "A little warm", or "Feverish". That's usually good enough to make a decision. We use the rectal after that, if needed.

This is pretty much why we want it too.

Re: Forehead Thermometer?
We have it and I find that I can use it three times in a row and get three slightly different temperatures. It is good if I just want to get a general idea of whether she has a fever or not, but if I want real accuracy, I use a rectal thermometer. Honestly, for what it costs, its probably not worth it.

Re: Forehead Thermometer?
Ive always noticed that you can take the temp 5 times in a row, and get very diff temps each time. I used it once on my neice, it said she was 100.3, and then 6 seconds later she was 98.2 plus I had a really hard time getting her to let me slid it across her forehead, she kept turning her head, I guess trying to look at it
