For those who had their membranes stripped before DC was born...
how long did it take for you to go into labor?
Sorry I was going to post this on the pregnancy board but I figured I might get some better answers here. My sister is an OB and came to NY (she practices in NJ) waiting for me to give birth (she's off for a couple weeks). I'm 40w1d and yesterday she stripped my membranes to hopefully start getting some things going. (and yes it was TOTALLY weird but I'm trying ALMOST anything to get DS to come out). I'm PRETTY sure my mucus plug came out last night. I thought I lost it already 2 weeks ago but this DEF looked more like what I've seen in pictures. I'm just hoping this moves things along. Anyone have any experience with this?

I had mine stripped when I was 39 weeks. I was already 4 cm dilated and 70% effaced. I had been having full on contractions for 4 weeks at that point. I was sent to the hospital that night for an induction. I ended up not progressing and had a csection. Hopefully it works for you!!

Went to dr Thursday morning. Dr stripped them and stretched me to almost 4cm. No contractions at all. Water broke Friday night Saturday morning when I was sleeping and I had dd2 shortly after.

I hate to tell you to just relax and he will come, but its true! You don't want to force it and end up with a csection. It will happen when you least expect it.

With my second, I started having hard contractions on my way home from the appointment. They got closer and stronger and I went to the hospital that night, but I wasn't really progressing. The next morning I was still having contractions but wasn't getting past 4-4.5cm. They broke my water, started pitocin, and dd was born within 2 hours after that.

I was a week late and in early labor for 3 days. I went to the Dr. at 2:30 in the afternoon, and he stretched me to about 4cm (then said I will def be seeing you tonight). I starting having intense contractions about an hour later. Went to the hospital at 7:00, my water broke at about 8:30 and I was started on Pitocin. I never ended up progressing past 7cm and DD turned sideways at the last minute so ended up with a CS at 2:30 the next day.

I totally agree, its like when you give up all hope they decide to make their entrance! The best way is just to let them decide when they are ready!

Was 1cm and 50% effaced for like 3 weeks, went for my 39 wk apt and was 2cm, 50% effaced. I did not have a single contraction at all by that point (or they were so mild, I never felt them). Had my membranes stripped at that apt and 1.5 days later, at 39 wks exactly, DD came flying out after less than 3 hrs of labor.
