For Those Who Had Planned C-Sections...
Can you tell me if they did a epidurial on you or a spinal? I am confused. I thought they only do the epi if you have been pushing for awhile and need an emergency c-section and a spinal if you are getting a planned one...but then i have heard (I think) of woman who had an epi with a planned c-section.
Thanks!

Mine was planned, but I went into labor the night before but I still got a spinal. It would of been a spinal anyway.

Re: For Those Who Had Planned C-Sections...
I had an epi/spinal combo. Then an epi for a 48 hours after surgery, then oral meds.
I was induced with the understanding that if I did not dilate after the induction I would have a c-section. I guess it was not a "scheduled c-section" but the c-section was a "plan B" that we figured would probably happen given that that day before the doctor told me that there was a reason I was having contractions for a week and she was not coming out.

Re: For Those Who Had Planned C-Sections...
I had a spinal. They started it at around 6:15 and I ahd the boys at 7:06 & 7:07. They closed me up, sent me to recovery where I started feeling them around 9:00 or 10:00 I think. I was not able to get out of bed though until 6:00 hours after I think, and I was out of bed at 2:00 ish.

I entered the OR & got the shot at 2:02, DD was born at 2:17 -- sometime in the evening I regained feeling.
There was absolutely NO feeling whatsoever. It amazed me, in fact, how quickly you lose feeling from when they give you the shot... literally seconds.

Re: For Those Who Had Planned C-Sections...
With the epi, I felt pressure on my lower half, but nothing other than that. It's hard to explain. You feel something, but nothing.

Re: For Those Who Had Planned C-Sections...
I had a c/s with my first. I had a spinal. It was sort of planned because we knew he was breech, so when my water broke, I went right for the c/s.
