For those that have dogs...
If your baby is sleeping, esp at night, and the dog has to go out (we only walk our dog on the street / we don't have a yard), what do you do? Would you wake up and bundle the baby to go out for 5 mins??
I would hate to wake a sleeping baby but wouldn't want to leave it alone in the house either.
What do dogowners with new babies (or even older kids) do?? My DH is concerned for when he's not home to take the dog out late at night....I never thought of this!

can you take your dogs out earlier and then have your DH take the dogs out when he comes home so they're not waiting so long? I have a feeling I will need to wake up LO and take them with me just because you never know.

Re: For those that have dogs...
Could you just take the dog to the street right in front of your house without walking out of eyesight of it? And have a baby monitor set up so you can see/ hear the baby while you're outside. Or do you have a porch or a deck or even a front step? Maybe you could put down a puppy pad right outside your door and just stand in the doorway with the dog on the leash and let it go on the puppy pad.

I would get one of those leashes that extend really far and Id stand at my doorstep w/ the door open and let it go outside in front of the house.

Re: For those that have dogs...
I have two dogs and this is what I plan to do. If the baby is sleeping I will take the monitor with me and let the dogs out; they only need to be leashed walked and it takes 5 minutes. If he is up then he is getting bundled up and put in a sling etc. Really sounds like a PIA but what else are you going to do?

Yeah that's what I figure we will do...or I can ask my neighbor (who is my close friend) to keep an eye on the apt while I'm out.
Thanks ladies!
