For those of you with guest who have to sleep in in the liviing room when they viist...

SIL and her boyfriend are visiting. Since we only have a 1br, they're sleeping in the living room on an air mattress.

I'm an early riser... DH sleeps in, and they sleep in. I've been up for 2 hours and I'm going nuts. I can't read since DH keeps the room like a cave... finally after an hour I got my laptop. And I already took my dog our on a walk.

I'm going stir crazy. What do you do when you have people sleeping in the only room w/ a TV? When do you start just making noise to wake people up?

well, it's almost 10am, which is a pretty reasonable time to wake up.
start making breakfast and the smells should rouse them.
if not, you can gently wake them and tell them breakfast is ready!

i was going to suggest something similar. maybe go out and get some bagels and put on a pot of coffee. that should wake everyone up.

thanks! I think i just needed confirmation that it was okay to start making some noise - i always feel so bad waking people up!

I think i am going to walk to the bagel place and then start the coffee when they return.

It's not even llike we went to bed late - at midnight!

Good question- I'm usually the one who sleeps late though- so it's not really an issue for me. (case in point- I just woke up a few minutes ago).

But as a guest- I always feel bad sleeping late- especially if my hosts are awake.
So I'm sure they won't mind some noise at this point...

Get a pot and a spoon and start banging on the pot. I hear it worked in Big Brother to get people up. LOL. Definately start making coffee and see if the aroma wakes them up.

Make coffee and breakfast.

My DH likes to sleep late and it drives me nuts when we stay at someone's house and he is snoozing away, I kinda think it is rude.

If they are on vacation I try to let them sleep and go out if I can. And dread the next time they come to visit!

I would wake up DH before I woke up guests. Atleast you would be able to read or something.

i speak for mysellf when I say that when I am a guest-- I abide by their schedule.... so if I "hear" someone up-- I too get up.
