? for teachers.......or ANYONE with an opinion for that matter!

If your child was born the middle of September, would you have their birthday party 3 weeks earlier so as not to have to have it after you go back to work? Even if other kids birthdays, namely your own godson's, was the same weekend you were planning?

Just trying to figure out the way some people think......

Re: ? for teachers.......

nope...I would have it close to when the actual birthday is...going back to work and planning a party are not earth shattering enough to do the party 3 weeks earlier (IMO) However, I have been teaching for a while so back to school is alot less of a big deal that it used to be...kwim?

I get you...and while I have the utmost respect for teachers.....what about the rest of us who work all year long? Chat Icon We don't even have a summer off to plan everything.....

Yes, I would. I am a teacher and like to do my party planning before the school year begins for several reasons.

First of all the beginning of the year is always stressful and exhausting for me.
Second, not only does school begin but so do all the activities that kids have. So I have 10 nieces and nephews who never have a weekend free all school year. NOw my own children are getting into the act. If I want my family to be there without being too rushed or without missing a child who is at a game, I do it in the summer. My son's birthday is in march and always ends up being celebrated on Easter with all the spring birthdays.

I agree - doing it early would be so much easier IMHO since the new school year is so crazy...how old is your dc? (would they know?) I always think spreading out bdays works better anyway since present overload sets in quickly vs opening over time or a few times! :)

DS birthday is Sept 11. I will plan it for that weekend this year (even though we only go back to work for 2 days) The only thing I will feel bad for is that he won't know any kids to have a birthdya party with his class in the future :(

I would celebrate on the day or the weekend before or after the day.

No.

I could see a week before (or after for that matter), but not three weeks.

I'm a teacher but my parties aren't so elaborate that I can't schedule them during my working months Chat Icon

It's not me, I'm not the teacher. We received an invitation from a family member and IMHO, I think it's a little out of place for her to have her DD's party 3 weeks in advance just to accommodate her returning to work. It's HER godson's birthday party that weekend too.....

Would I do that? No, but there are a ton of reasons others might do that. Many were mentioned already.

No. I would have it as close to his actual birthday as possible. Birthdays are SO special for children and their actual DAY is so important.
