I dont know if you know about this NFP Group out in Riverhead (they have other branches) called the Cornell Cooperative Extensions, they are GREAT resource for local healthy living.

I interned there in their PR dpet in College and they are FANTASTIC and very community involved a great source of knowledge on things from chiildhood obesity, to pesticides, to farming and gardening, to local farmers markets and the environment.
