For ladies that switched OBs
Did you tell the doc why you were leaving? I switched practices and the receptionist left a message on my phone asking why I switched. The thing is, the doctor didnt do anything wrong, I just felt she was too quick and did not seem too interested.. and just overall, I didnt feel comfortable or more relaxed at all. Anyway, I told her that I was switching hospitals so I needed to switch ob's since I'm super non-confrontational. I told my sister who said I should have just told them and maybe they would be a bit better to the next patient.
Just wondering if anyone here was up front about why they left a practice.

Re: For ladies that switched OBs
I did and I am glad. After I cancelled and said I was switching I actually got a call from the nurse practitioner I had seen previously saying congrats and asking if something happened. I told her that he didn't do anything wrong but I felt like he didn't give me the time when I asked about family planning before I got pregnant and I would try someone else. She said it may have been an off day and if I wanted to come in for an initial appointment she could sit with us and DH and I could just feel him out. In the meantime I found a new OB who was highly recommended in Nassau. I wound up seeing both doctors, kind of testing them out, and while this new one was nice, I am sticking with my original. He was surprisingly way more thorough and educated us more and DH actually liked him better.
I didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings or have things be awkward with the doctor so I was really hesitant to go back and give him a shot. Thankfully, the NP told him I wanted to try a woman instead of what I told her and he was great about it!!
In the end, people switch doctors all the time. Don't fret and depending on the relationship you don't have to tell them why!

Re: For ladies that switched OBs
I did explain.why I.was leaving..I was honest saying I didn't like how large the practice was or the fact that I was forced to see every doctor. I wasn't attacking anyone personally I just wasn't going to make up an excuse.

I did but only because I had to call the old office and have them fax over all the records for the pregnancy. The woman asked me why I was leaving and I explained.

Re: For ladies that switched OBs
I switched during my last pregnancy, I told them the reason - I wanted to try a VBAC and they wouldn't let me.

Re: For ladies that switched OBs
I am super non-confrontational as well, so I never told my old practice either. I do agree though, that it could be helpful to the old practice to know why they are losing patients. But, I don't think it's a really big deal.
