For former/current IVF'ers

Is it more common than not to get pg. on the 1st try at IVF ????...Or is it like IUI where they say if it doesnt happen within 3 tries that your chance lessens ???...Just wondering how many cycles of IVF everyone has done and if you were successful ...Because my insurance isnt covering it I'm Chat Icon that it takes our first time around ......

Re: For former/current IVF'ers

There are a lot of factors that go into your chances of a successful IVF. I had a 60% chance of it working and it did on our first try.

Good luck to you!!!

Re: For former/current IVF'ers

I don't know what the stats are for success on the first try but our doctor gave us a 15% chance of it working on our first try and I am now 31 weeks pregnant with a little boy.

I did acupuncture and changed my diet to improve my chances of success and I really think it helped. Good luck to you!!

Ditto. We have MF...I think this is one of the "easier" things to be successful on with IVF.

Alot of factors go into success rates. Age, what type of IF, etc. Good Luck!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

yes MF is supposed tp be one of the "easier". That being said I have secondary IF with MF and was also given success rates of 50-60% and I have had 3 failed fresh cycles, 1 FET with chemical PG.

Re: For former/current IVF'ers

I did two stim IVF cycles and 7 FET's....got pg after the second stim cycle on the first FET - But, I'm over 40 so my chances were much lower.

Unlike IUI, I don't think your chances change with each IVF, it's just a matter of how much you can take.

Thanks everyone for all the responses !....We are believed to have mild PCOS , No MF, I'm 33 and have a child from IUI so I know that I can carry a pregnancy, its getting pg thats the problem ...The Dr. told us 60% chance also (I always wondered how they come up with these percentages).

Re: For former/current IVF'ers

I got pregnant on our first IF cycle - unfortunately it just recently ended in a m/c - but I don't think it had anything to do with the IVF

We had strictly MF - never did an IUI because they said our chances were soo much higher % wise with IVF

Just eagerly awaiting when we can do the FETChat Icon

Best of luck to you Chat Icon
