Food Intake Related...

Okay, let me start with, i'm 6 weeks, 1 day....

I have never in my life eaten for lunch as much as I just did. OH MY GOD...(also let me add in, i'm not a SMALL girl...i'm a plus size).

I order Chinese from a place here that makes me Steamed Chicken and white rice. I have ALWAYS taken home the leftovers because there's enough for two meals...

NOT TODAY....i ate the entire thing.

Is that normal? To be THIS hungry this early???? the other night for dinner - i scarfed two entire plates of pasta....

(all i had to eat today to this point was a carnation instant breakfast and a 100 calorie oreo thingy)

Yes! Very normal. I was RAVENOUS in the beginning and if my husband let me, I would have been able to eat a full meal every 2-3 hours! It does subside, but don't be surprised if it comes back later on! I go through spurts still where I could eat everything in the fridge in one sitting and thensome!

Re: Food Intake Related...

I was STARVING from the day I for my BFP 3W 3D pg until week 8. I was eating like a crazy woman anythgn and everythign in site.

Week 9 the MS kicked in BAD!!!!!! I was diagnosed with hyperemesis and ended up losing 14lbs. I'm 22 W 6 D and still down 11 lbs.

A lot of women are really hungry early on and then taper off. You may notice you will have a few days of extreme hunger and then a few nays of normal eating. A lot of times this coincides with a growth spurt of the fetus.

Just try to make healthy food choices and if you feel you are eating a lot of food to stay full then try to limit empty calories elswhere like flavored drinks or joices which can quickly add up your total calorie intake.

Don't deprive yourself of food...just try and eat as sensible as you can!

thank you so much girls!!!!!

I have been drinking water like it's going out of style and just going with the, 'if you're hungry, eat' thing.

I know because i'm already overweight, i shouldn't gain much weight...but it should be interesting...

I'm also GIDDY that the IBS has gotten SOOOOOOooooooooooooooo much better.... Things are um....much more firm than ever in my life - so i'm VERY excited about that!

Re: Food Intake Related...

I would also try and have a stronger breakfast in the mornignif you can stomach it..... You really haven't eaten that much today.

Maybe some oatmeal or a yogurt and a piece of fruit, then a snack 2-3 hours later, then lunch then another snack, dinner snack!

This will help to keep your blood sugar level and not shooting up and crashing!

In a few weeks you will start to notice a lot of symptoms if you don't eat often enough such as dizziness, lightheadedness, nausea, fatigue etc.

Try to get in a good food habit now, when you are not nauseous or sick and it will help you for th rest of your pregnancy

I have nutrigrain bars, but i just wasn't 'feeling them' this morning really...i dunno. I'm DEFITELY going to try to get more into fruit...and i want to pick up some Yo Mommy yogurt...(which i can only find at a walmart supercenter, we're going there this weekend)..

Thank you for the tips - they're truly appreciated!!

Jess - I'm soooooooooo not a fruit eater. Veggies yes.. fruit no. BUT I lived on fruit in the mornings in my first trimester. Things like melon (watermelon, honeydew, canteloupe) I CRAVED. Not only that, I helped ease any neausea I was feeling. It didn't take it away totally, but it helped ease it.

I have no luck in the WORLD...seriously...so i was fully expecting it yesterday like you have no idea.

Dave used to make fun of me because i always said if it weren't for bad luck, i'd have no luck at all....he now believes (and even after taking his 100% irish name, NO CHANGE)...

If this is my ONE good thing - i'll TAKE IT!!!

I truly feel sooooooooooo much better now - thank you all!!! I just kept sitting here going, you're going to get so fat, that was not right, you should've stopped eating (thanks for the inner voices mom)...

Watermelon and honeydew help my nausea a lot too!!

Honey dew is WONDERFUL because it helps to stablize glucose levels in your blood and prevent them from spiking and dropping...... I eat it like every day!

Def. don't be nervous. For some it kicks in early but I think the average is about 8 weeks for it to kick in. If it does at all. They are PLENTY of girls on here who never had it at all. I was odd and I didn't get it until around week 13 and was miserable till about week 16. Remember, every pregnancy is different. Chat Icon

I am too. But now that I am just about 12 weeks, there is some real nausea going on. If I don't eat often, it comes back. When I ride the train in the morning..ugh.

DH laughs because he swears I would be more relaxed if I was throwing up every day! Chat Icon

Re: Food Intake Related...

My Dh can't believe how much I eat when we go out. I usually finish my whole plate, which I never ever did before. I don't eat a crazy amount during the day, but sit me down at a restaurant and I go crazy.

I had such bad M/S in the beginning, I'm just glad I can eat again.

Re: Food Intake Related...

My friend and I are due 5 days apart -
We are both having really pleasant, symptom free pregnancies ---- so far !

She has been STARVING and chowing down on everything in sight for the last 14 weeks -

w/ the exception of my AM bagel necessity, I have been eating like a bird - I just can not eat a lot at one time w/o feeling sick.

I guess everyone is different.

It's normal! I was like that with my first pregnancy. I swear as soon as that second line came up, I started eating everything in sight. This time, I was too sick throughout the first trimester (still am Chat Icon ) to really be that way, but I've still found that when I do get hungry, I get ravenous.

Don't be! I had basically no morning sickness with my first pregnancy & I now have a healthy 3 year old. There are many women who never experience morning sickness & have healthy pregnancies. Chat Icon
