Food ideas for 8 month old?
I need some meal ideas that are quick and easy I can start adding in, they don't get nearly enough solids sometimes, and I know before a year it's just practice, but we are quickly inching to a year. My first question is can they have yogurt at 8 months? Secondly, we did all purée foods early on and I would make in bulk batches so it was easy, now I would like to start shifting more to a baby led weaning and encourage them to start picking up foods and trying the foods we eat on a daily basis which is where I am struggling with the solids and intake because of what they can or cannot have. The list I got from my doctor seems so different from what my friends give their kids, like my kids haven't had eggs but my coworkers 6 month old eats eggs or pancakes for breakfast every day I was thinking making them a crockpot of chicken and veggies so it gets very soft and I could freeze half and then give them that and finely shred the chicken and mash up the veggies. I was also thinking of making them hard boiled eggs for during the week? And start adding in yogurts and Doug pastina as well. Does this seem accurate for their age or am I way off? so I guess I'm just confused and lost and looking for ideas!

Re: Food ideas for 8 month old?
At that age, DD ate whatever we were eating, within reason. She wouldn't have steak, for instance, but she had just about everything else- eggs, yogurt, cheese, veggies cooked until they were soft, all kinds of fruit, burgers, pasta, peanut butter... I can't really think of anything besides hard to chew food that she didn't have.
ETA: She did still eat purees at this age, but by 9/10 months she refused them completely.

Oh wow thank you! I think I'm over here still feeding my kids like 4 month olds! So now let me ask- for a burger let's say that is seasoned, can they eat that?

We didn't start until 6 month's. My first was given the okay for anything but honey and s cup of milk by 8 or 9 months. My second we basically got those instructions at 6 months. At 8 months i fed her anything but in reality it was most often 1 or 2 meals a day just bc we weren't home enough for more than that.
You can do yogurt, eggs, meatballs, small pieces of chicken prepared however, toast, pancakes, crackers, grilled cheese, fruit, veggies. Just make sure to cut things up small if they're harder to chew.

Teeth are not needed to eat anything so don;t worry about teeth.

I was surprised how early she was able to eat everything, too. We kept any seasonings low or left them out for DD at that age, but she if she stole food from our plates, she always enjoyed any extra flavor. She's always had a pretty iron stomach so she had no digestive issues.
ETA: Yes! That's one I forgot- no honey. Not until after a year. But DD was able to gum her food without any teeth or with just the front two, which really do nothing for chewing food anyway.

I found ground beef to be a little too chewy and grainy. Instead of burgers, I used to make teeny meatballs, bake them and then freeze them. I always put them into their pastina, because when you boil them, they get soft. I did pastina and veggies or cheese, eggs, pot roast or beef stew, pork chops roasted with apples and soft green beans. They can totally have yogurt - my kids lived on it.

Yogurt was one of the first things we gave DD and she didnt start solids until 6 months. Now she basically eats whatever except for steak. Dd loves scrambled eggs and pasta. You can steam veggies to make them softer. She also loves chicken and meatballs.

My DD was eating what we ate at that age, within reason. Yogurt, scrambled eggs, pancakes, waffles, french toast, burgers, bread, chicken, meatballs, fruit, cereals, veggies, plain pasta, cheese.
