Follow-up on job question

OK, so I posted about the potential job offer the other day - take less money, but dream organization etc.

Here's the thing. I am taking a maternity leave position that will most likely become permanent but isn't 100% guaranteed. I met with the President b/c she wanted to meet me (I'd be working directly with her) and to allieviate some of my fears. She told me she really believes the woman won't be returning but if she were to, they would most likely be able to use me in another department b/c they like my skills. I felt very comfortable with her response at the time and truly believe here. I also met the woman going on leave and I had a hunch she might not return. Now, I'm slightly freaking out though b/c it is still slightly risky. Would you take it and just still interview incase?

I would take it. The person who covered me while I was on leave is still here 5 years later as a full-time employee.
