Re: Follies?
I'm not sure if they disapear or not but I do know that they all don't mature at the same speed. If you have a lead follicle (a follicle that's maturing faster than the rest) depending on it's size, the rest may or may not catch up with it. A mature follicle is in about a 18 to 22 mm range and follicles grow about 1 to 2 mm per day.

Re: Follies?
It probably means that just the one has grown at a good rate and will be mature at the right time
the others probably stopped growing so aren't considered viable anymore
at least that's what i'd think from what you describe.. but if you're confused, give them a call back to clarify. The more questions you ask of the dr, the better you'll come to understand it yourself

Re: Follies?
Were you on any meds? Fertility medication usually make you produce more than one follie. But normally with no meds you only produce one dominant follicle per month....that is the follie that will release the egg that is ready for fertilization. Eta: dont feel weird about asking Dr. B questions - he's good at explaining things until you understand

I was on Femera for this cycle. I O every 28-30 days and everything so far has come back normal with the testing. He said this one follie is the "good" one and its maturing at the right speed. He said this wknd I should ovulate and should every 36 hrs or so. I go back Thurs for level testing.

Re: Follies?
in a normal ovulating woman there is only one lead follicle and one egg released at ovulation. so one is fine. usually many develop and then one takes over the lead and matures. with fertility meds you can develop more but theres nothing wrong with just one either.
