It DEFINITELY depends on the person. I am on much more than most PG ladies that I know and I was when I was TTC as well. I have very different needs. I STRONGLY suggest asking your doctor.

I agree...I too have different needs, so don't take extra if it is not prescribed/ok'd by your doctor.

I think the base minimum (barring extenuating health situations) is 800mg... that's usually what is found in a basic OTC prenatal vitamin. But as other have said, medical history, medications, and conditions could up that amount to 2000 mg or more.....
but at least make sure you get the 800... it can only go up from there!

I'm not sure but my OB said over the counter prenatals had plenty.
