Flying to Hawaii with a 2 1/2 year old this summer...

I know it's way off...but has anyone flown that long with a toddler? We have an 1 1/2 hour lay over/changing planes in LA before continuing on and it's a day flight. He is a pretty easy going kid, but it is a long way to go.

I'm trying to make an inventory of things I need to have/buy to bring on the plane with us.

Let me know if there is anything else you can think of or BTDT suggestions.

DVD player
books
coloring book and crayons
snacks
drinks
magna doodle

Haven't tried it yet but we will be in your shoes when DS is two. DH's family is from Hawaii and we will be going for his sister's wedding in 2012. DH's aunt did it almost every summer with her two kids from the time they were one. She assures me that it will be fine. Sometimes she would stop in San Fran., at her sister's, for a few days and get the kids acclimated to the time difference but not every year. Bring some new fun toys and lots of treats. You will have an amazing trip. I wish I was going this summer but its too much with a little one. Instead MIL and SILs will be coming to NY for his first birthday.

I am sure I will be pulling up this thread in 1.5 years for some more suggestions.

The furthest I've flown with my DC's is 4 hours ( though we did take a 8-9 hr. car trip)...Some things I have brought along are:


Bendaroos ( or Wikki Stix) lots of fun, easy to carry

Colorforms

Sticker books

Lolli-pops

Anything new that he's never seen before , could even be from the dollar store ( and only give him one thing at a time!)

Leapster type toy
