Flying and ear infections?

So took DS back to doctor today..he has been on antibiotic for 6 days and his ear infection is still VERY bad. As of now, we can't fly..doctor is switiching him to augmentum..which should be interesting because that medicine makes him gag and that's the medicine that i couldn't get him to take last time...She also wants him to take mucinex and use nasal spray. We have to go back monday morning to find out if we can fly out tuesday morning. I'm not hopeful right now.
Anyone ever clear up a really bad ear infection quickly..if so, how did u do it????

I remember when DS 1 got a lot and the best meds that cleared him up was this really sugary antiobiotic called suprex.
I think that's the name. It worked better than any other.
