Fluid in ears for 6 months!
My son got tubes at 1 y/o. He is now 3 and has fluid for almost 6 months! He is still monitored by his ENT regularly. If he still has fluid next month, ENT told me he will redo the tubes and will remove something from nose, I don't remember exact procedure on nose. He passes the hearing tests but is slightly less than perfect because of the fluid.
Does anyone have experience with this? Did your ENT suggest new tubes and surgery?
Thanks

Make sure you ask about the adenoids. If they are enlarged they don't allow the middle ear to drain. which will cause the fluid to build up.

Re: Fluid in ears for 6 months!
my son had his first set of tubes at 8 months...and a year later was still getting ear infections and had a 2nd set put in and his adnoids out. He hasn't had an ear infection since and it has been a year and a half since his last surgery!

My son had fluid in his ears from 3 months old until 3 1/2 years old... It was from his teeth. Teething can cause fluid in the ears... Last year he started to cut his 6 year molars and the fluid came back... Even with all the ear infections he had, his dr didn't do tubes.

Re: Fluid in ears for 6 months!
My dd has had fluid in her ears for months after having her first ever ear infection at 6! She has horrible allergies which is what the doctor attributes the fluid to...she takes Claritin and Flonase every day, but she has 2 more weeks and then if it's still there we will see an ent. The pediatrician mentioned taking out her adenoids as a possibility.

Re: Fluid in ears for 6 months!
I take my DD to the chiropractor for ear infections. I am not a fan over over-using antibiotics and did not want to take a chance with tubes which can come out or cause scar tissue. My chiropractor recommended treating her for this with gentle adjustments and she showed me some massage techniques and natural things to do at home for her. We also changed some diet and added probitoics- this helps to boost her immune system. It's working!!
